Trip Report.

Howes Valley. ----- September 18, 2005.

Trippers:
The Story.

Turned up 2nd behind Adrian to welcome the group, thinking l was leading the trip if Allan wasn’t up to it. Allan says he is fine and that my name goes into the hat just like everybody else, as you can see my name was pulled out, no problemo's, Greg can write the report, ………………………………………right? wrong!

Robyn volunteered to eat our dust and was christened Rear End Robyn. Cathy told us all that “I’m driving and he’s just the sandbag”.

All ready to go BUT you can't go without the Captain, where’s Al, Robyn? In the bloody loo again; “l told him not to have that coffee”, she says.

Off we go at 8:00ish up the Putty Rd for 95km; turn left through a pretty valley, over a very rickety wooden bridge and past a property with its own three whole golf course.

Up from the valley, along the ridge top until smoko at 9:30ish to where a clearing had been made by 2 large graders.

Off again after half hourish and Allan drew our attention to the large amount of Flannel Flowers, Wattle and Not Wattle Trees. Our concerns about the possibility a lot of branches on the road didn’t materialise as someone had gone through earlier and cleared the track.

Travelled along over increasing number of drainage ditches until we had lunch at 12.30ish.

Robyn showed off her new drop down table and David proceeded to set it with table cloth BUT with non matching napkins which was duly noted.

After lunch we travelled along the track that was like a highway; stopped at a clearing which overlooked the valleys and mountain with the power lines disappearing into the distance. Not long after we started to descend down the escapement on a long meandering track until we reached two gates to which Robyn and David were rewarded with lollies for closing. Not long after here we hit the black top near Jerry’s Plain. Some of us headed home via the F3 while the others came back via the Putty Rd.

Had afternoon tea at Bulga then headed home after that. Thanks to all that attended and thanks to Allan for leading.

PS One can't write when one is asleep can they………………………………………..Greg?
